Review: Ciate Dolls House Collection

LtoR: Poppet, Dollface, Baby Doll, Paper Doll, Sweet Pea
Retail: $25
I love all things British, I am a self proclaimed Anglophile, so naturally I was drawn to the Ciate nail polishes. I made this cheeky purchase whilst snowed in on a Saturday night (we've had SO many this year). I knew I wanted to try out Ciate polishes but in a cabin-fever induced moment I decided to try 5! The Dolls House Collection is their "porcelain" finish, which is the mattest of matte.

I have read several bad reviews about these polishes and, initial reaction, I wasn't thrilled either. However, I was determined to make these polishes work for me because the colors are just beautiful. Especially my favorite color, Sweet Pea, which is a mint green (a true mint, not a blue-y wanna be mint). After trial and error I have found the best trick is to lay it on thick, as thick as you can for the first coat, don't worry about some streaking yet. The huge plus of these polishes is they dry in an instant, so laying it on thick wont lead to I-think-my-nails-are-dry smudging later. The second coat go just as thick and the streaking should be covered. This takes a bit more patience and effort but the result is so perfect. I also heard that they chip out of control, my remedy for that was a strong base coat. I used Chip Skip mani prep coat by OPI and my nails did just that. Below I have some pictures of my technique for a streak free nail (not rocket science, but it can be done!). My second favorite is the limited edition Paper Doll. I have been looking for the perfect white polish and this is it. It looks fresh and bright against my skin, I can't wait to wear it in the summer with a tan. The other 3 colors Dollface, Poppet and Baby Doll are lovely as well. I really have become ecstatic with this purchase now that I have learned how to work with the polish. The colors are exactly what I was looking for and the porcelain finish is a unique look to add to my collection.

OOTD: Supermarket Chic

So I have to tell you, Besties, that I have a remarkably silly fear of wearing pajamas in public. I will wear say leggings OR a sweatshirt, but never both. I can't even bring myself to wear my hair up! I know...it's totally weird, especially for a Sunday at the grocery store. Thanks Mom for this looking "not put together" fear I have developed. So here is my cheap, lazy day outfit.

What I'm wearing:
Sweatshirt, Kohl's (summer 2013)
Jeans: American Eagle (old)
Shoes: $5 bucks at Wal-Mart (spring 2014)
Purse: Nine West

Review: Physicians Formula Nude Wear -Touch of Glow concealer

Retail: $12.95
That packaging though? I have to admit, the rose gold and the bow sold me on this product before the actual product did. Its so delicate and girly and rose gold-y, ugh I had to have it! Luckily I had just run out of my favorite concealer (another PP product), so I could justify the purchase. The packaging also has a faux leather grip and a small brush applicator.

First impression: After a few clicks of the dial, the product flowed lightly through the applicator. It was slightly darker than I anticipated which was concerning, but I was able to blend it in beautifully. Its finish is a lighter coverage (possibly not great for dark spots, acne) with a nice shimmery glow. This is going to look beautiful under eyes and as a highlighter.

Overall:  This product is a smooth, thin, light coverage concealer with a dewy finish. It has no smell or oily feel, will be perfect for highlighting and adding a fresh, awake glow under your eyes. It is also paraben free- always a plus! This is going to be a staple in my makeup bag for quick touch ups and to show off the gorgeous packaging of course.
